The semi-finals of the Chutney Soca Monarch Competition get underway at "The Rig," Gulf View La Romain, with 34 contestants competing for a place in the finals. There is added excitement as the anticipated participation of Machel Montano has become the talk of the town. As expected, and to make the performance a genuine Chutney Soca sell, the iconic Drupatee Ramgoonai will join him in performing his song "Pepper Vine." This dynamic duo's performance is sure to be a showstopper.
Those who arrive late may miss the 'main attraction tonight.' MM (Machel Montano) will be the first performer of the evening, adding to the anticipation. Given such a strong start, the remaining contestants will have to work hard to stand out.
It is interesting to note that Rikki Jai, Neval Chatelal, Chris Garcia, Veekash Sahadeo, and Hemlatha 'Hurricane' Dindial are all returning to the competition when it was learned that Machel Montano will be in the mix.
