Yuh Look Fuh Dat by Prophet Benjamin: Truth-Telling Griot Style

Today we present a new music release by the very talented Prophet Benjamin. This artist hasn't released any music in a while, but today he showcased an outstanding track named "Yuh Look Fuh Dat." Devon "Prophet Benjamin" Samuel wrote the song. Mind you, the lyrics of this song beg for a response from the ladies! In a male-dominated society, we don't want to sound chauvanistic, but here we are, and we really need a response from the ladies.

Arnold "Black Star" Noel of Black Star Productionz handled the production. It was mixed and mastered by MadMan Johann of Madmen Production. This song takes us back to the wonderful old days of Calypso and storytelling that moved the people with its poetry and rhythmic vibe.

If you lack accountability for your actions, prepare yourself for a harsh awakening from a contemporary griot. Prophet Benjamin’s skillful storytelling is akin to the grapevine narratives found in classic Calypso music. This combination of storytelling and rhythmic poetry makes it a refreshing addition to the Soca genre.

So why do we love this song so much? The song, while humorous, delivers some serious truth-telling. This  is classic calypso tongue-lashing but delivered in a Rapso/Soca style.

Remember, Soca came from Calypso, and Calypso's art can show itself in real time, as is the case with this song. The song's music is exceptional, and its lyrics resonate deeply. We love the song, and for those who think that the art of Calypso is waning, look no further than "Yuh Look Fuh Dat" as an example of the art form's rebirth, just in a different style.
