Tokyo Steel Orchestra Plays Voice's "Cheers to Life": PTSCBP2025

"Carnival, the Bacchanal start," and we are thrilled to kick off the preliminary judging for the Small Conventional Bands category of the National Panorama Competition 2025! The sweet sounds of the steelpan and steelbands across the Twin Island Republic will fill the air with excitement. Recently the steelpan was brought to the attention of the world, and after tonight they will understand why this national instrument is so beloved.

Joshua Regrello's incredible achievement of setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest steelpan-playing marathon, playing non-stop for an astounding 31 hours, has given this year's competition an exciting start! Let's take this opportunity to praise Joshua but also applaud WACK Visual Radio 90.1 FM for providing global streaming for his historic event.

Today, we are honored, actually pumped up, to feature the first band to perform and be judged in this prestigious competition: Tokyo Steel Orchestra! They will be playing a captivating song by Aaron "Voice" St. Louis, beautifully arranged by Carlton "Zanda" Alexander. This is an exciting evening for pan enthusiasts; don't forget to watch all the performances on Facebook through the Pan Trinbago portal.

Zanda is a boss, and he went on to breathe new life into Voice's song released in 2015 for Carnival 2016. Zander's arrangement has revitalized the song for the year 2025. His creative genius continues to captivate audiences and elevate the Carnival experience, showcasing his exceptional talent and deep connection to the music and culture of Trinidad and Tobago.

Stay tuned for more updates and performances as we continue to celebrate the vibrant culture and incredible talent of steelpan music. As the competition unfolds, each band brings their unique flair to the stage, showcasing the rich traditions and innovative styles of steelpan music. It's a thrilling experience that captivates audiences and highlights the dedication of these musicians.

Wow, what a way to start the competition! Zander did an excellent job with this arrangement, showing his skills as a master steelpan music arranger. His meticulous attention to detail and skillful blending of traditional melodies with contemporary rhythms truly distinguished him. Zander's arrangement of "Cheers to Life" captivated the audience in attendance for this preliminary judging performance, indicating a promising start to this year's competition.
