Everyone knows that most politicians twist the truth, and they lie a lot to win votes. The recently concluded US national elections set new records for both lying and presenting the truth that the public desired to hear. Calypsonians thrive in this environment, and they excel in Trinidad and Tobago. They take even the smallest idea and transform it into humorous storytelling, occasionally incorporating explicit content in a refined manner. At the grand opening of the Kaiso ShowKase calypso tent on January 24, 2025, Mr. Mack's performance was a comedic masterpiece. The Calypsonian, renowned for his humor and charm, captivated the audience with a song. The song, inspired by the bizarre "eating cats and dogs" story from the recent US general elections, was a clever mix of satire and double entendre.
Rumors circulated in the US about immigrants consuming cats and dogs, and this absurdity was incorporated into the creation of "We Don't Eat Pets" with a dose of risqué, double-entendre sexual content. We are certain that Mr. Mack's delivery left those in attendance spellbound. Online viewers were enjoying themselves, engaging in lively conversations and bursting into laughter in the chatbox. The ladies seemed to enjoy the song and performance more than the men, or maybe the men were taking a break and letting the evening unfold on their own.
Regardless of who enjoyed the song or not, one person had a wonderful time, and that was Mr. Mack. His command of the stage and his big smile shone brightly as he and the resident Moko Jumbie danced on stage. While entertaining and thought-provoking, the song may have veered into sexual mischief, but mischief that was appreciated by the crowd in attendance. However, Calypso's clever use of double entendre protects them in this regard. Mr. Mack was engaging, and he captured the audience, making for a standout performance. We enjoy it; how about you?
