The music and culture of Trinidad and Tobago span decades. Each period had a unique sound based on world conditions (e.g., World War II, British rule, etc.) and then some. The creative process emerged under colonial rule and shares a mixture of colonial rule and the creative genius of the people of the land. Today we present a gem of a recording found on SoundCloud by "A Man Called Warick." The music captures the essence of that early period and life in the Caribbean.Of course, you love Calypso and Steelband music, but this recording sheds light on the various influences and styles that the music encompassed. The recording encapsulates the essence of the people who lived during the period from 1050 to 1960. Take a little time out of your busy schedule to listen to the music and think about the people and time that was. This is the period in which your grandparents and great-grandparents lived. After listening to the music, you will have a greater appreciation for the music of the past and a better understanding of our current musical escapades. Enjoy!
