At 2:00 am tonight, New York and the US/Canada will jump ahead to 3:00 am. We are now officially on the same page with our Trinidadian families in the Caribbean. Trinidad and the USA will indeed share the same time tomorrow. It’s like they’re synchronized, dancing to the rhythm of the universe or just the sweet sounds of Calypso, Steelband, and Soca music!
Those who listen to their favorite radio shows in Trinidad can now check in at the same time with their Trini families. If the show starts at 1:00 pm, it will be the same here in the US, not 12:00 noon! Remember, time zones can be quite fascinating. While we’re all on this spinning blue marble, our clocks tick to different beats. But for that magical moment tomorrow, Trinidad and the USA will be in perfect harmony once again. So, let's celebrate, chase the cold winds of winter away, and welcome spring with some sweet West Indian vibes.
So, whether you’re sipping coconut water at home or at Maracas Beach in Trinidad or grabbing a slice of New York pizza with cornmeal-spread crust, know that time is dancing with you. A change in time in the US will mean goodbye to the winter blues and welcome to sneezing and cool air and bright blue skies, just like in the islands of the Caribbean.
If you are up tonight and awake as the clock strikes the same hour, let’s celebrate this cosmic coincidence. Yes, 2:00 am becomes 3:00 am in New York City, where I live. Ah, we celebrate the change. In Trinidad, they ask, "What is the big deal?" Yes, it is 3 a.m., and in Trinidad and Tobago, anytime is Trinidad time!
