Top Ten Soca Songs for June 11st-17th 2023 | COTT

The latest Top 10 Radio Plays for June 11–17, 2023, are available. This is the format we now have for the whole Caribbean basin, despite not being ideal in terms of play tabulations. However, it mostly draws inspiration from Trinidad and Tobago plays. We appreciate COTT's effort and gratitude.

COTT's weekly Top 10 List format is provided below. The rest of the Caribbean may be included on the list, but that will require a different format for tabulating the data.

Billboard's format for their charting is done differently and includes music sales apart from radio plays and streaming services.
The Billboard charts are put together by calculating song sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States (1).

Now, while we appreciate COTT's effort to produce a Soca Top 10 chart, we also cringe at the fact that radio stations determine which songs are on rotation. The top 10 songs have been the same for a while; however, since Trinidad's carnival ended, many fantastic new songs have been published. Isn't anyone paying attention to these newly released songs and their popularity online? YouTube plays should become a part of the charting process since most of the newly released Soca songs are released by Julian's Promos on YouTube! If the radio stations are not focusing on the new songs and all the Summer carnivals in 2023, then how can they really feel good about the integrity of the Top Ten chart?

This week's TOP 3 as tabulated by COTT are as follows:
  1. Mood- Kes & Shaggy
  2. Come Home- Nailah Blackman & Skinny Fabulous
  3. Like Yuself - Machel Montano & Patrice Roberts
Here is how #COTTTOP10 is generated!
Our chart is informed by data obtained from VERICAST - the software used by COTT to capture this and other types of musical data.

The chart represents the local radio play of our members and, does not include music created by non-members.

We monitor approx. 34 stations during this process. The data is then tabulated on a weekly basis, and the top 10 songs played across all stations make up the #TOP10.
