Sokah2Soca along with Mr. Kenny Phillips of WACK Radio 90.1 FM are pleased to present a performance for the ages. Carnival 2023 in Trinidad was amazing, but we cannot forget the people who made the festival work. Today we present a performance and song that many have not heard because you did not attend performances at a Calypso tent. Thanks to WACK TV and Mr. Kenny Phillips we feature "Faris Faris" by Alicia Richards.

Faris Faris by Alicia Richards is a catchy and witty calypso song that pays tribute to the former Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago, Faris Al-Rawi. The song was written by Ronald Forde and performed by Alicia Richards at the KaisoShowkase opening night at Palms Club in San Fernando on January 28, 2023. The music was provided by the KaisoShowkase house band, led by Pelham Goddard.

The song is a humorous and playful take on Alicia's admiration for Faris, whom she describes as "handsome", "smart", "charming" and "dashing". She sings about how she dreams of him every night and wishes he noticed her. She also pokes fun at his political career, legal battles, family background and relationship with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. She even suggested that she would be a better match for him than his wife.

The song has a lively and upbeat tempo that matches Alicia's energetic and charismatic stage presence. She engages the audience with her expressive gestures, facial expressions and eye contact. She also interacts with the band members and backup singers, creating a lively atmosphere. The audience responded enthusiastically to her performance, clapping, singing along and cheering. She received multiple encores, showing how much they enjoyed her song.

The song is a classic example of Calypso, a music genre originated in Trinidad and Tobago. It is known for its social commentary, satire and humor. The song uses rhyme, repetition, alliteration and wordplay to create catchy and memorable lyrics. The song also references local culture, history and politics to make its point. The song showcases Alicia's talent as a singer and performer, as well as Ronald's skill as a songwriter.

"Faris Faris" by Alicia Richards is a fun and entertaining song that celebrates Calypso spirit and the personality of Faris Al-Rawi. It is a song that will make you laugh, dance and sing along.
