Fantastic Friday featured Machel Montano in the North but down South, in San Fernando, the Chutney Soca Monarch Competition was the featured show. The show was dedicated to Anil Bheem who would have opened the show. His untimely passing weighed heavily on show fans. Anil will be missed!
The winner of Chutney Soca Monarch 2023 is Ricardo Melville aka "Daddy Chinee". The show took place at Skinner Park in San Fernando last night. It should be noted that the upcoming Chutney Soca conquerer, Katelin Sultan (eight years old) won the Queen Title and placed 5th overall last night.
Surprisingly, the show was poorly attended even though admission was free. However, there is always room for improvement and, of course, there is always next year (hopefully)!
