Kaiso, Kaiso, yes Kaiso! There is no doubt that Lady Gypsy aka "The Dragon Lady" is a fearless Calypso champion... she is not afraid to tackle issues feared by others. This calypso, entitled "Political Cemetery" will have many of her fans divided as it relates to political allegiances. She is a beloved singer but many will not be happy with the hit job this song does regarding the ruling PNM establishment. What her critics will not be able to do is criticize her ability to deliver a song of substance, a song that will make many politicians cringe, and one that is just damn good!
So, for all the haters, this one is for you! Then again, for those who love a well-written, hard-hitting calypso, sit back and enjoy this one. Now is the time to check out Lady Gypsy's "Politica Cemetery" and decide if her burials are worth her 'Calypso-Salt'. It is interesting to note that this song was only heard on WACK radio played by Mr. Desmond. He knows that not everyone is in agreement with the lyrical content but he knows a good song, a well-written calypso when he hears it. Those who pick political sides will grudgingly applaud this song and say, Kaiso, Kaiso, that is Kaiso! Kudos to all those involved with this production... well done!
