Mr. Desmond is a well-known DJ on WACK Radio 90.1FM out of San Fernando, Trinidad. Over the years he teased that he could release a song, and after numerous years of banter/dotish hours on Sunday afternoons, Deso has finally taken the plunge and released a song singing/rapping alongside Daddy Chinee. If Kenny could do it so too can Deso and even though Kenny kept "steupsing" at the thought of Deso performing on a song it has finally happened... and, it is good!
Now if you didn't know Mr. Kenny Phillips is a well-respected music producer out of Trinidad and Tobago (KMP Music) and the father of sons who own productions companies of their own. Who are they? Kasey Phillips of Precision Production and Kyle Phillips of Badjohn Republic. If you look at the production notes you will notice that the song was mastered by Badjohn Republic. Having said that, one has to conclude that Kenny did not feel that Deso could really "sing" a song. Well, there are various styles of singing and rapping, talking, Rapso all come into play and, in the end, the final product is considered a song with the artists considered 'singers'!
So what about the song? If you know Parang Soca/Soca Parang (Kenny can explain the difference), if you love Parang Soca music then you will recognize that this is a good song! It is very festive and the season will carry this song to many homes throughout Trinidad & Tobago and Grenada (parang is popular there too). Those radio stations that play parang music should have this one on their seasonal rotation for many Christmas seasons to come. We like the song and congratulation the production team at RGBAND Productions.
Well done Deso and continue to rub salt in the wounds of Kenny's huge ego. We love you too Kenny, and you should come to the "Dotish Hour" on Sunday and personally play "Kind Ah Way". Acknowledge Deso's 'talent' and do this out of respect for the new artist sitting across the table from you!
