Ah Freein Yuh | Yolanda Woods | Trinidad & Tobago 2019

Trinidad and Tobago's carnival was fantastic with some very awesome music. One of the songs that captured the imagination of the public was Farmer Nappy's "Hookin Meh" written by Nadia Batson. Everywhere you turned the song was heard and experienced by so many couples.

There was the good feeling of the vibe but there was the discomfort of unsatiated and unrequited love. It took some time and as expected we have a response to the song that captivated the nation for carnival 2019. Let the ole talk, let the bacchanal start... it is male against female, unscrupulous lovers and hurting partners; what happens next is all up to you!

That song worked out well for bpTT Renegades with an arrangement by Duvon Stewart. Hookin Meh won the Large Conventional Bands Panorama competition for carnival 2019. This song was all about that garbage bag and Farmer Nappy's predicament but what about that sad feeling experienced by the love of his life? Yolanda Woods is here to represent; she has a story to tell and we are here to let the lady vent!

The song steamrolled Trinidad and Tobago's carnival but was it really accepted by all? Farmer Nappy sitting on the sidewalk talking to Ian ‘Hoggit’ Alleyne lamenting his predicament and sounding totally confused tell us that this scenario plays out regularly in the Caribbean basin.

Farmer vibed in the studio with De Red Boyz laughing and joking with the guys only to return home to get the bad news. He sang his heart out but what if the response to his lifestyle and lack of attention at home was delivered in song? Ah ha, today we present the response sung by Yolanda Woods. We progress from a carnival of fun, liming and ignorance to an after carnival reality show. The message also comes in song. This is "Ah Freein Yuh", the response to "Hookin Meh".
