These are the singers who will compete for a place in the finals of the Groovy and Power Soca Monarch Competitions for 2019. After watching the list I am 100% convinced that they are making a major mistake by crowning the Power Soca Monarch the Soca Monarch for Carnival 2019. 

They are making a bigger mistake giving the Power Soca Monarch $1 Million dollars compared to $500,000 for the Groovy Soca Monarch category.

SMH.. Give the 1 Million Prize Money to the Groovy Category. That Power Soca listing is not deserving of the prize money.

The Semi-Finals round of competition is scheduled for Sunday, February 10th at 3:00 pm at the Arima Velodrome. The Finals (Groovy & Power) are scheduled to take place on Friday March 1st at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain in Trinidad.

Now let's have a little fun... our predicted winner of the Groovy Category is V'Ghn (Jevaughn John) from Grenada singing "Trouble In The Morning". His live vocals are the same as the recording... The Morning After Riddim is boss! We predict Vaughn to take it. We love Blaxx but keep an eye on the Grenadians. There is a good chance that both winners will come from the Caribbean basin outside of Trinidad & Tobago.

We have included Youtube music players with the songs for both categories. We have called a winner for the Groovy category so let's do the same for the Power. The show will be held in Trinidad so we will select two and pick a winner. It should come down to Iwer George vs Lil Natty & Thunda. Iwer will have the home advantage and better crowd support but we think that Lil Natty and Thunda will surprise everyone with a very spirited performance to prevail. The predicted winner is Lil Natty & Thunda with "Get In Your Section". Yes, we are predicting that Grenada wins it all for ISM 2019!

Let's face it, the Groovy Soca Monarch competition has all the good music. The Power Soca category cannot compete with the Groovy category for quality of music. What a shame that Fay-Ann is going down that route... no respect for the Groovy Soca Singers! We believe the focus on the Power category is all about hype; it is a pity that the financial rewards are slanted to the Power Soca Category.
