Time to wine... fine like Chilli Bibbi! This is new music from Iwer George and Badjohn Republic for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2019. The Power Soca competition is going to be very interesting for carnival 2019. Now let's get to Iwer's offering... let's have a little fun today. Let's get to it!
Have you ever heard the saying, "plain talk bad manners"? Well sometimes you have to 'tell it like it is' regardless of the outcome. Today we feature an new music release.
Ahem, no not really a new music release but a re-worked song from the year 2000 that takes a look back at the road march competition of 2018!
The story unfolds in song with lyrical content that walks us through a story or great anticipation for all things good and the conniving that put a song entitled "Savannah" (a sure winner) one step behind the eventual winner, Soca Kingdom.
Oh, so you think that we are going too far and dreaming up as story line that really did not take place. However, one can tell that Iwer is still pissed regarding last year's competition and how he got relegated to second place. Maybe you only got the music, may be you did not even hear what Iwer was saying in song because you tuned him out. Then again, you simply don't take Iwer seriously at all! Now we want you to listen to the lyrical content and take note of the story he is telling in song.
I am with Iwer, I think he has to 'team up with Jesus Christ' to defeat the mafia that connived to crown Soca Kingdom road march champ for carnival 2018! Iwer is right, Savannah was just a talking point for a while but then it took off and looked like a sure winner but then... can you tell what happened next... man go and listen to the damn song!
We had a little fun doing that but all jokes aside... we have to deal with 2019 and the impact that this song could have. It is too early to make any 'profound statement' simply because the Power Soca deluge has not started. When that time comes and the dust lifts and settles a path to the road march title will emerge... until that happens we will revel and console and party hard with Iwer!
The music... what about the music and the vocal performance? As mentioned before, this is a remake, reworked song done by Iwer way back in 2000. The music is vibrant with stand out brass and a sweet guitar vibe from old general Kenny Phillips. We give credit to the music and with regard to the vocals... look man, it's Iwer!
That is the man's style, his signature vocals that is recognized and celebrated when ever he performs for his fans. I cyar believe Iwer blamed the Soca Mafia... somebody needs to put Andre Jeffers, Iwer George & Sheldon "Shelshock" Benjamin on a stand and question them... I'm leaving, I'm gone... yuh want ah next verse?
