Finally we have one of our modern day griots taking on the issue of the day... something we love our cultural ambassador for so doing. Today we present a song done in Calypso/Soca style (Socalypso). The singer is Nerukhi and his song is entitled "Put Yuh Phone On Silent".
The cellphone or some like to say mobile phone has become a necessity. Land lines are giving way to the cell phone but apparently some people think that gives them a right to use the phone without consideration to the people who may be in close proximity. Oh yes, cell phone etiquette has gone amiss.
The fact that this societal problem has made it to a calypso show how diligent our cultural ambassadors are. Nerukhi (The Conscious Lyricist) has addressed the issue. We need to take issue with the problem but must be careful regarding how we coax our family, friends and associates to become socially appropriate cell phone user.
