101% | De Mighty Trini | Trinidad & Tobago 2019

Another masterful composition delivered by Mr. Robert Elias aka 'The Mighty Trini' for Trinidad and Tobago carnival 2019. The song is entitled 101% (One Hundred & One Percent) produced by Mr. Kenny Phillips with vocals done by De Mighty Trini.

Who is a Trini or what gives one the right to call ones self a Trini? Then again ask yourself if you have the right to tell someone that they do not belong because of race or ethnicity. Race has been a problem for us but then again Trinidad and Tobago has to come to terms with our generous multicultural inheritance. As bad as it was for our ancestors today we have the privilege of that inheritance... we are all 101% Trinis.

Today we celebrate our inheritance, that inalienable right to call ourselves Trinis but still have to understand that there are some in the society still feeling left out or maligned through no fault of their own. However, make no mistake, they are all Trini2DeBone! Robert Elias aka De Mighty Trini has teamed up with Mr. Kenny Phillips to bring us this special song entitled 101%. The truth spoken in song is that regardless of our color, our race, religion or anything that you can use to divide us, as a nation we are one people with one Trinidadian identity. No one is to be left our of our cultural melting pot. Our multicultural identity makes us special, makes us better!

So lets celebrate what makes us great, pool our cultural identity and share this special gift with the rest of the World. We know we have social issues to contend with but as a people we are better able to deal with these issues if we see Trini before race, color or any other negative roadblock that prevents us from identifying the beauty of each member of the society.

But wait, we are here for the music and the song. One glaring thing to note is that we don't know who wrote the song... it's a secret for now. However, we are confident that Trinis are so damn mauvais langue that we will get that information soon enough... keep hope alive. Mr. Kenny Phillips did a wonderful job with the music using East Indian musical elements to transition into a full fledged Calypso with some sweet brass. There is no denying the talent of De Mighty Trini. He does not have to prove that he is Trini to anyone. This man is a proud Trini and one who lays the problem at the feet of the Almighty. Who vex take that up with the BOSS!
