Do you recall that they sent out the incorrect riddim lineup photo with her name on it then advised Jam2Vibes to pull the photo (I know because I had the photo).
Before we get to what we think about the song let's get the basics out of the way first. This is new music for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2019; the song is entitled, "F.U.N".
Let's be honest now, after listening to the previously released songs this new music release felt dated. To be honest Destra did not live up to the hype... this song should have been released with the others! "Benover" sell-off for this Riddim. Any other music release just feels like the artiste is just coming along for the ride. It is difficult to get past Makamillion, Multi-Symptom and Yankey Boy with "Benover". Then again, Yankey Boy & Hunter with "Doh Hold Back" and Rayzor & Tim Tim with "X-Pose" have already saturated the market with this Riddim.
So here we are with Destra's, "F.U.N"... sigh! She is out to have fun and we want to 'rain on her parade'! Let's be honest, this is not vintage Destra. This is a decent song, not a song that will carve a path from one radio station to another. The lyrical content tried to wave through carnival experiences while trying to bring out the fun experiences of these carnival endeavors. This is a decent song, not the long expected heater vibe that would light up radio play and Internet chatter!

Now let's be clear about something here, we listened to the song on the initial release. We said what we said, now that doesn't mean that we don't believe that this song will sell off! All it takes is for a DJ to drop a mix that makes the song 'pop'! Watch and pay attention to what is going to take place when this song lands in a mix-tape... that, dear friends, will be the litmus test for the success of this song!
We are not enthused with this music release but we are not 'haters' of the artiste; far from it, we love Destra and what she brings to the table. Having said that, we encourage you to support the artiste and the production team. Regardless of our views put your support for the artiste in practice; please use the comment feature of this post to share your thoughts about the song with your peers.
