Did somebody say that Christmas without parang is no Christmas at all? Well, lets correct this belief, Christmas without Parang Soca/Soca Parang is no Christmas at all! Today we take a break from the new Soca music releases to bring you a Parang Soca track that will have you dancing and thinking about sorrel and ginger beer while putting a smile on your face. This is new music for Trinidad and Tobago Christmas 2018; the song is entitled "Mrs. Clause" sung by Michael Legerton aka Protector. Now, let's get to the song.
It pains us to report that based on the report by the Trinidad and Tobago's official news reporter... the Calypsonian, Mrs. Clause is demanding a divorce from Santa Claus. Please don't let the children know that it is because Santa is about to get a serious Tabanca; that means, no toys heading to Trinidad and Tobago for Christmas 2018.
It is always a so-called 'good friend' who spoils a long standing relationship. Too much talk at the most inopportune moment. Just imagine someone 'buss d'mark' that Santa was in Tobago having 'the time of his life'. While living 'LaVida Loca' and eating crab and dumplings, Santa's good friend, Scrunter, 'buss d'mark' to Mrs. Claus that Santa was reliving his youthful days all over again! Santa's flirtations did not go unnotice… watch your friends! The sounds of Scrunter singing sweet Soca Parang along with some good Tobago rum left Santa in a bad place!
Don't you just love it when you have a song with excellent music (kudos to Calliston Pantor), the beauty of the work done by the mandolin player and lyrical content that tells a story that keeps one engaged from the start to the end? I love it when Protector sang, 'Leave on a reindeer and come back on a horse'. Sweet music, a Caribbean reference, Calypso style vocals and the revelation that it was Scrunter making a move on Mrs. Claus that resulted in the need for a divorce. Hello, did you think he was doing a public service... that self-serving Scrunter! We know you will love this song. Talk about getting your money's worth, the song is 6:17 minutes long... Enjoy!
