Bad Boys Riddim | New Carnival Riddim Release 2019

Carnival 2019 is coming and everyone looks forward to the new music releases with great expectations. This is the time of Riddim Releases where you get around half-dozen songs released on a set vibe. The question is how much is enough? This new music releases produced by Cool Blaze & Neri Beats are pushing it to the limits... this Riddim is bursting at the seams... ten songs! Is that a good thing?

The producers and singers won't like this review! Sing Soca was so excited about these songs that were released in time for Miami Carnival 2018. Well, let's get it on!

King Bubba - Start It
The famous King Bubba did some co-producing on this Riddim. His song is entitled, "Start It". Let's get to it. Ok, Bubba wants everyone to know that they are ready for anything... "tell them to start it, anything or anything, we ready". That is about it... he did not pull me into the conversation.

Dynamite - Mad Tings
Mad Ting jumps right into the conversation and addresses the phenomenon of Soca appreciation around the World. Soca is a 'Mad Ting'. It can be, and this one stands out on this Riddim. However, the song just loops the lyrics... not much substance other than "Soca is a Mad Ting".

Sizwe - Backshot
Hell no! The lyrical content for this song does not send the right message... we really don't need songs with this message... lyrical content deserves a minus on the lyrical scale.

Popeye Caution - Take Over
Popeye Caution wants to 'Take Over' the road... a good idea for a carnival song. Not much to the song and as I waited for the song to develop it was over... just like that... not going anywhere with this one.

Klassik Frescobar -Reverse It
We are not in favor of the lyrical content for this one but this artist has a nice flow. We like his style. These are tired and overused lines... 'My gyal push back'. No! We need better lyrical content.

Spanish - Pon Di Edge
Another 'wine song'. Pon Di Edge takes the woman to that carnal place. Sexy girls are there to wine to make things right in this setting... not creative on the lyrical front.

Bushman Prince - Dutty Bacchanal
As a J'ouvert song, this one handles the topic well. The lyrical content could be cleaned up; we don't want to hear about when 'she bend over'. The Dutty mas part is part of carnival and the bacchanal... address the festival and having fun. This one is OK on the lyrical side but will not have any staying power!

Lil Raw - Bumpa
The title of this song stuck in my throat... "Bumpa". Talking about 'bam bam big like ah whole truck load'. No, hell no!

The Dude Feev - Camera Man
This song title is different! I was interested in the topic choice and the song direction. This one put a smile on my face. This guy was creative and came up with a story that is relevant to carnival time and the games people play. The Dude Feev gets kudos for his creative storyline...

Smooth - Mash It Up
Another Bumper song... by this time I got tired of listening to this Riddim. These songs don't do Soca any favor... enough said!

Now let's get something straight, everyone has an opinion and may even stand by that opinion right, wrong or indifferent. I gave my opinions on the song and you may totally disagree... here is your opportunity to join the conversation.  Please use the comment feature of this post to share your thoughts about the songs/riddim here with your peers.
