We have a developing situation that is bringing angst to those entrusted to run the affairs of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation. The National Carnival Comission has taken control of the Calypso Fiesta scheduled to take place on Saturday February 18th. 2017. One can assume that the same will apply for the Calypso Monarch Finals.
The total disorder, and or lack of proper planning, led to this unfortunate situation between two entities entrusted to do what is best for our culture. In the midst of the Carnival Celebrations this infighting is playing out in public.
It is our hope that after the Carnival is over the 'powers that be' get together and formulate a policy to properly regulate and organize these National Organizations to prevent this from happening again.
One can conclude that if the leadership of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organization (TUCO) was properly organized and prepared for Carnival 2017 then the NCC could not have had grounds to move on TUCO in the manner they did... the Ministry of Culture needs to bring all the shareholders together and 'iron out' the problems that have led to this unfortunate situation.
