Chip | Boyzie | Carriacou & Grenada 2017

We have a very interesting song for Carriacou, Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago Carnivals in 2017. The song is entitled "Chip" and is sung by the artist known as 'Boyzie'. This song was officially released for Spice Mas but we liked what we heard and decided to feature it here for our Trinidad and Tobago Carnival feters/revelers.

'Chip' is not a typical Spice Mas song. Usually one would expect songs related to 'Jab Soca'. However, this one has a Trinidad and Tobago feel, a groove Soca feel. We don't mean to imply that only Tridadians know to produced Groove Soca, we don't want to insult anyone. It is just that Trinidadians love and produce so much Groove Soca music. We are at a stage that people don't even look to Trinidad for Power Soca anymore... that is now controlled by Saint Lucia! We are a Groove nation... and we like it so!

Boyzie, has an excellent song and we want our Trinidad and Tobago fans to hear the song and give it a try. We would like to hear it played on Trinidad and Tobago radio stations. It is very difficult without some serious promotion by the management team. Trinidad is awash with new Soca music. However, Boyzie's team should send the song to the radio stations... we think it is good enough to get on rotation.

We encourage you to support the artist and the production team. We want you to spread the word about  the song and share this post. Please keep in mind that the success of this song depends on your support. Let me say it again, now it is up to you to ensure that this song rides the airwaves. Please call in to your favorite radio jocks and request the song. We invite you to share your thoughts about the song and music production.

YouTube Music Release Notes:
"Chip!" is a groovy rendition that embodies Grenadian J’ouvert, the mas of the people! Historically, this essential feature of Carnival originated from West Indian chattel slavery. Horns and shells were often blown on estates to assemble the enslaved Africans in one area and following emancipation they would recreate this scene to signify the end of years of oppression.
Hence, this procession of commemoration (cannes brulees) was on the night of August 1st, emancipation day. Over time the date changed but the spirit remained the same. Today revellers use cow horns, chains, tails, shackles and restraints, while chipping on the road in an early morning parade to the rhythms of our music.

J’Ouvert is a time when we all come together, regardless of the struggles of life, celebrating with friends in unity; "Chip!" is a tribute to this aspect of our Spicemas.
