The Spice Isles are going to have another bumper year of new Soca music releases. Today we present the "Steam Food Riddim" for Grenada and Carriacou Carnivals. The Carriacou Carnival comes early with the Grenada festival coming around Summer time. The artists on this Riddim are listed below. This is not ordinary Soca music... this is Jab Soca music; an infectious rhythm filled version of Soca.
This style of merriment is only partially practiced in Trinidad and Tobago. However, in the Spice Isle this is the heart and soul of the festival. Of course they have pretty mas and scantily clad ladies parading in bands but the real, hard core revelers are in the Jab bands.
In Trinidad and Tobago we 'Dance in Paint' and don't wear much clothes to play mas but in the Spice Isles it is all about Jab Mas or real oil on body 'dutty mas'! If you want to hear these songs on Trinidad and Tobago radio then you have to become an agent who wants this to happen. Become proactive and call into the stations and request the songs. Trinidad is all about Groove Soca, looking good and only getting on bad when Machel drops his Power Soca track (he released one already).
So who's afraid Jab mas or we should be asking following, who loves Jab Soca? If you love Jab Soca or simply want diversity in the music then call and request the songs. Please keep in mind that the success of these songs depends on your support. Let me say it again, now it is up to you to ensure that this song rides the airwaves. Please call in to your favorite radio jocks and request the song. We invite you to share your thoughts about the song and music production.
