It is Carnival Sunday in Saint Vincent and tonight is the night that a new or repeat Calypso Monarch will be crowned at Victoria Park. This is the last of the singing competitions and the one that is traditional for any Caribbean style carnival celebration on Dimanche Gras night. 

Tonight, the reigning Calypso Monarch, Shernelle "Skarpyon" Williams will attempt to repeat as Monarch as he comes up against ten aspiring competitors who also want to be crowned Calypso Monarch of Saint Vincent's 2014 Carnival. 

The Calypso Monarch Competition will be a part of the Sunday night Dimanche Gras showcase. The show will include the King and Queen of the costume bands and other cultural events that should put on display the talents of various sectors of the society.
