The Seamstress | Prophet Benjamin | T'dad & Tobago 2014

Look pressure... Prophet Benjamin has release this song entitled "The Seamstress" for all Chutney Soca lovers. This song highlights the plight of a seamstress (could be any small business person) working hard but not monetarily rewarded for her hard work. Of course the song has a play on words when Prophet sings, "Yuh  mother sew, yuh mother sew, yuh mother sew and  sew and sew" to highlight her hard work. However, in Trinidad and Tobago the term "Yuh mother (mudda) so and so" is typically used to express annoyance with another person ... in other words it could be used to "cuss someone out"(profanity)!

Now you have the right to be the judge and determine if the application is there to highlight all the hard work of the woman sewing and not getting paid or the person ordering the work and not paying for the item with the outcome being "yuh mudda so and so". What do you think?

Well whatever conclusions you come to, keep in mind this song was created to make people laugh and bring about reactions like, "ha ha ha, oh chune boi" or "ah like it, this song will create a buzz:" or similar remarks. It is a funny song with a play on words meant to make you think yet have fun with the music.
