This is one of the better Soca/Soca Chutney/hybrid Soca release that I have listened to this week I must say that I love what Olatunji brought with his song 'Wining Good' (Bharatiya Laraki) but this one by Avinash Maharaj entitled "End Of The Day" is a clean, well sung, lyrically strong and simply wonderful song. Did I impart that I like the song? Hell yes I do and if your are one who is looking out for a song that has nothing to do with wining and jamming and flag waving well this is your home run - Avinash hit this one for six!
OK, now that we got the niceties out of the way we have one thing to discuss. Is this just Soca or Chutney Soca? This is some what tricky because when you listen you simply hear a good sounding track with a youthful voice delivering the vocals. However, on closer examination you hear the tassa rhythms supporting the vibes but more importantly the bass rhythm is playing a tassa vibe. Sound like regular Soca but there is more Chutney vibe to this one. Isn't that interesting? This is more like what Ras Shorty I set out to create! A mixture of Calypso and Indian rhythms but so constructed that you are in doubt as to the labeling of the genre.
Regardless of what you think, Chutney Soca or just Soca you have to admit that this is one of the better music release that we have to entertain us to date. Innocent but clean and desirous vocal delivery with an infectious rhythm to support this talented artist. Let me heap some praise on Ghost Writers for writing an excellent song for this talented singer. Kudos to all concerned with the production of this song
