Press Release:
Coming out of one of most innovative studios in Trinidad and Tobago; Optimus Productions, is a riddim that embodies the spirit and energy of Southern Trinidad. With subtle excitement, energy and a array of melodies, the riddim which is certain to move listeners is named after one of the most notorious streets in San Fernando, Trinidad; Coffee Street.
Produced by Jesse "Chunky" John, a talented southerner, the riddim was christened Coffee Street after constant observation of the vibes of the people that would frequent the area. The street which acts as one of the main access points to the city of San Fernando, on any given day, is buzzing with activity that will capture the attention of anyone.
To ensure that the personality of Coffee Street is understood and felt, John called on the assistance of six talented artistes; Shurwayne Winchester, Dev, Sexy Trisha, Peter Ram, Valerie Hill and Sean Caruth. Each artiste through their tracks; "Friday", "Wuk it n Wuk It", "Leave Meh", "Feeling Nice", "Burning" and "Push It Back" respectively paint a clear picture of what occurs on Coffee Street at some of the popular liming spots. Whether you are waiting in line at one of the most popular Roti shops in south Trinidad or sipping on the coldest beers, Coffee Street has action that you will enjoy.
In response to possible criticism, John says, "It is important to represent for where you are from and there is no rule against doing it in music." He shared, that while he is not discrediting or questioning the vibes and uniqueness of any other areas in Trinidad and Tobago, he is certain that, "The vibes in South is different." John makes special mention of Shurwayne Winchester, Eugene Bass and Shanna's for their support and assistance in making the Coffee Street Riddim and project the success it is.
