Awesome News from the Soul Train Awards Show for 2013! Bunji Garlin is blossoming into the International star that most of us expect him to become. Tonight he took a big step when he won the award for "Best International Performance" for his monster hit "Differentology"!
I can just imagine the celebration that is taking place back home in the Asylum Camp! I am so proud of Bunji's accomplishments and everyone back home should celebrate with this talented artiste who has kept true to his conviction and worked his Ragga Soca style to perfection. Congratulations are also in order to the team that created the music - Sheriff and JRod Records. Cheers, go ahead and celebrate this auspicious moment!

Let me also add that during these times of exuberance and celebrations we sometimes forget to give credit to those who had a part to play and may not be part of the team anymore. Having said that, we cannot forget the contributions of Bunji's former manager Mr. Ian Pantin (he too should celebrate this achievement).

Bunji reacted in a very calm and positive manner on his facebook page with a short and thankful message to his adoring family and friends:

For all the excited fans please note that this show was pre-taped on November 8th and it is my guess that Bunji knew in advance that he won; maybe that is the reason the Asylum camp was so calm when the results were officially posted on the BET Website last night. That is quite fine because the rest of Bunji's fans will scream and shout and let it all out and just be jubilant at this time (Trinis will always find a way to party and this is a damn good reason for one).

What a way to end the year! Differentology was recently featured on the hugely popular television series ABC's Grey's Anatomy. The song also recently won 'The Battle of The Beats' on New York's premier radio station Hot 97FM. He is on the rise and even the NBA has taken notice. Many of the teams are using Differentology as their anthem. I guess everyone is "ready" and today a dream was fulfilled - Congratulations to Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez on this achievement as the winner of the Soul Train music category, "Best International Performance"!
