Calypso Tabanca T'dad | Panorama Songs for Carnival 2014

Bunji Garlin may have a Carnival Tabanca but surely if you are a lover of Calypso music and especially Calypsos written for Panorama (steel band competition) then a 'Calypso Tabanca' could more than likely be worse than your woman putting down 'ah horn on yuh'! Any type of Tabanca is a problem but why should we be put through this year after year? We need to resolve this problem and this is our way of bringing this problem to the attention of those in office - fix it now!

I am not happy about a trend that continues to this day. You hear the talk that Calypso is dying and that something needs to be done to save the art-form. Well I am here to lay the blame on the artists, Tuco (Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organization) or anyone involved with Calypso! Can someone tell me why we can't get the new Calypso releases online like all the Soca music releases? Why is it that When Steel Talks (www.panonthenet.com) is the only place to hear the new songs? Why can't TUCO be the outlet for all these new calypsos?

This trend is the same for the upcoming 2014 season just like it happened in 2013. Of course I am happy that I can hear the music on when Steel Talks but shouldn't this be taking place in Trinidad first and shouldn't TUCO be the place this all starts? After all these Calypsonians are members of TUCO, definitely not When Steel Talks!

Something needs to be done to give the Calypsos the exposure they deserve just like Soca music receives from myriad websites and the radio stations. Now in the case of the Panorama songs featured on When Steel Talks the radio stations need to do a better job of highlighting these songs. This is our Carnival and I should not have to access a website based in the United State to get to "We Ting". That sounds bad since this website is produced here in the US but at the same time Trinidad needs to become independent regarding the dissemination of it cultural packages and especially with the Calypso music.

Enough now, TUCO needs to act and the radio stations and the artists should seek out each other to feature the music. If all of that fails then send the music to this site and I will ensure that each song gets an independent post! Send your information and music to trinizagada@gmail.com and your songs will be posted on this blog (http://www.trinizagada.com).

Let Calypso music for 2014 be accessible to the same people who flock myriad websites to get the latest Soca releases!
