This is not traditional music that you are accustomed to hearing for Carnivals past. This is the work of Sheriff, yes, the same guy who is the creative mind behind Bunji Garlin's Differentology and Carnival Tabanca. See what I mean... yes, that Sheriff!
The song was written by Full Blown Entertainment and Voice, and of course, the creative genius of Sheriff is embedded in the music that you hear. This song has the feting and bacchanal vibe but at the same time has a very European finesse to it. I like the song, but I am not sure that fetters are ready for a song like this to mash up the road.
This song does have the potential for an exciting music video with some beautiful dancing ladies in a club scene—yes, that should work just fine. Of course the song should hook on to the club scene in Trinidad and Tobago and elsewhere; however, I am not sure if it will do well during the carnival fete season when people are more into whining on somebody instead of grooving with someone to this very likable track. We will have to wait and see how the song performs on radio stations. That will provide a road map for the demand of the track and what the DJs can do with the song.
I like the song and the vision of Sheriff. I expect this song to do better overseas than in Trinidad and Tobago. What do you think? Pay close attention to the vibe emanating from Sheriff; he has the potential to significantly transform the music scene in Trinidad and Tobago.
