It is Dimanche Gras night in Saint Vincent and it is also time for the National Calypso Competition that settles, once and for all, who is the best of the lot when it comes to singing calypso. Last year Fya Empress emerged as winner and it will take a strong charge from the list of competitors to dethrone this fiery lady. Fya Empress has already captured the Ragga Soca Monarch title and will be difficult to contend with tonight! She will sing her songs "My Gratitude" & "Just" tonight!

The 10 Calypsonians who will try to wrest the crown from reigning Calypso Monarch Lornette 'Fya Empress' Nedd have been chosen.
Following an entertaining night of Calypso at Fantastic Friday on June 21st, the 10 Calypsonians chosen from a group of 22.
The National Calypso Finals will take place on Sunday July 7th at Carnival City Victoria Park and will see each Calypsonian singing two songs.
