This is new music from Trinidad and Tobago singer Patrice Roberts on the Soca Coaster Riddim (you better learn how to ride it) to avoid serious embarrassment! This Riddim was released for SVG Carnival 2013. I may have to listen to this song a few times to get a good feel for it; my initial take is that it does not blow me away!
The Riddim is very simple and does not really impact the overall feel that Patrice's vocals bring to the music. This one will take some time to get used to... in other words, I am 'not feeling' this track!
I guess the vocals were written for people 'who have taken a ride on a roller coaster' since special reference was made to Coney Island in NYC! Maybe it was meant as an early release for the Labor Day Carnival celebration in Brooklyn, NYC! Or, could it all be a spin on the word 'ride' and you have to let you imagination do the rest?
Well I can't leave Patrice and the producers in the lurch... I guess it is all about the type of ride Patrice is making reference to. The use of the roller coaster (reference to the ride) may not necessarily imply that you should go for a ride on a roller coaster but it could turn out to be the ride of your life! You may just need to 'hold on tight' to a bumper (woman in front providing the wine of your life); now we are talking about the ride of your life and you, most definitely, would have to "Hold On Tight"!
