Dreaming | Ricardo Drue feat. Drastic | Antigua 2013

First we got 'Wet Dreams' and now we have the follow up titled 'Dreaming' by Antiguan singer Ricardo Drue with featured singer Drastic. I listened to the music and have to admit that I really like this song. The music and the vocals are really good. I am a bit curious about both songs offered by Drue to date. It is very obvious that both songs  are created to cross over into different markets and are not necessarily festival music.

Now when I say festival music, I really mean Carnival music. Most of us who listen to Soca and Caribbean music in general are familiar with Drue's singing style. After all he lived and sang in Trinidad for some time before spreading his wings and moving on. However, this song with the exception of the drum beat (Soca style), has a very European vibe/style that should give the song a wider appeal. However, I have to be honest here now, I don't think this song, and the other offering titled 'Wet Dreams', will have any impact on Antigua and Barbuda's carnival or any Carnival events whatever.

West Indians are very accepting and they will love this song when it is played in the clubs or in a house party but I just can't see this song doing any damage in a Carnival fete scene. I do hope that Drue is holding back his Carnival releases with the intention of releasing them very soon. The bottom line is that I love the song but this is not Carnival music.
