The 'Fire Waist Riddim' is out and today we feature a track sung by the artist known as Carice. My initial thoughts, when the Riddim Mix was released, was let's wait and see because none of the vocals on the mix made me take notice. However, the music made me take notice of the riddim and that has not changed.
Now we have a song to listen and get a better feel for the riddim. This one is done by Carice and is titled 'Burning Up'. OK, I mentioned that I like the riddim so that is a plus for the song to star off. The first 14 seconds of the song had me doing a rewind to try and understand what she was saying (she talked about something); I gave up on trying to understand what she said.
The track played and the vibe sounded really nice. The singer simply flowed with the music. This is a very relaxed style and the music provides a really nice groove. Carice's singing performance was very relaxed (not the best/vocals need work) but good enough to get a pass from me. This song has potential but not to mash up a carnival fete but potential for after the carnival party grooves. 'Burning Up' can be played in any Caribbean style party any time any year. That is the potential I see for this song ... longevity if the DJ is in the right mood.
Take a listen to the song, listen to it more than one time and get into the groove... it is a good song not a great song but a good one.
