No Lokani | Prophet Benjamin | Trinidad Carnival 2013

Rasta and dhal! This is all about Chutney music and this one is a combination of talents from a Soca artiste and well known Chutney music producers Maha Studios. This one is full of rhythm and is a high energy track. The Chutney vibe is spiced with lyrical content that will surely put a smile on your face.

Many readers of this post may be wondering who or what is a 'Lookani'? When discussions about 'The Lookani' take place in Trinidad the conversation usually ends up with lots of laughter. Well here is a little enlightenment from a Trinidadian perspective.

The "Lookani" is an older woman who keeps her eyes on on a young couple who are on a date to ensure that no kissing or sex takes place. I am serious!

Now when you keep that in mind and you listen to the song everything will fall in place. If this song does not make you laugh then you really don't have a sense of humor! Just think about 'no lookani when Prophet sharing pookani'! So what does Prophet mean by sharing 'pookani' and firewood ready? LOL well you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that he wants to have sex with his woman but the Lookani is making his life difficult - bram jus' so!

Pros:
A seriously good production with lyrics to put a smile on your face and music that is rhythmically inviting to move and shake something - even the Lookini will be dancing to the beat of the music.

Cons:
Nothing to complain about!

The Bottom Line:
This song will get some serious airplay not only because it is funny and Prophet Benjamin is singing but because the music is sound and fast paced. Prophet is vocally sound on the track and the music production done by Maha Studios is excellent. This song should get excellent reviews and rotation on the radio stations across Trinidad and Tobago.
