This new music from Benjai with 'D Rilla' on a track titled "Controlling". This song was produced by 'C Dot' for Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival 2013. This one was posted on islandmix.com as a Soca track but I will categorize this one under 'alternative Trini vibe' for now. Everyone is 'dropping' alternative fusion vibes for the upcoming festival This may not auger well for the tradition music but it puts the artist in a position to remain relevant after the carnival is over. This style may find favor in North America or even up the chain of islands in the Caribbean region.
Benjai has joined Machel Montano HD and Bunji Garlin, to name two artists, to bring an alternative vibe to the Trinidad and Tobago music scene. Take a listen and decide if this is one that you will have on your iPod touch or MP3 player. There is something about this song that appeals to me - I like it!
