Push It Back | Rome | Trinidad Carnival 2013

This is signature Madmen Productions Trini Island Pop vibe.  I don't know why this is being marketed as Soca... this is not Soca! The artist is Rome and the title of the track is "Push It Back".  The music has that sweet Madmen vibe that everyone loves. This one will do well in the club scene.

This is not traditional Carnival music but then again Trinidad music is changing direction with so many young singers on the scene. The producers are giving the youth what they want and as everyone knows Carnival is driven by the youth movement... change is here embrace it or get left behind.

Now don't get in a tizzy and run around like a chicken without a head. This music has its place and it will be in the clubs and after the Carnival jams. However, Carnival is still dominated by Soca music and this style of music has to wait its turn for the fetes where everyone will still call for music that is know as Carnival music aka Soca!

Lyrics:
The lyrics have a Carnival vibe... no doubt about that. This is typical of music for feting in Trinidad and the region.

Vocal Performance:
Rome has a good voice for this type of music. He sings in a very relaxed style and will be around for some time. I like his singing style.

Music/Production:
What can I say... Madmen have done it again. I can't fault the music it is has a techno Island vibe and I can only refer to it as Trini Island Pop. Full of flavor and a vibe that will have you grooving to the rhythm but this is not Soca!

Replay Worthiness/Lasting Appeal:
A time and place for everything. I like the music, the lyrics fit into the Carnival element and the vocals are strong. However, only certain radio stations will play this song. I doubt it very much that the stations that play Soca and Calypso will have this on rotation unless there is a young jock at the controls. This one will play in the clubs after the Carnival for sure but will not be heard much on the radio.
