No More Tabanca | Michelle Xavier | Trinidad Carnival 2013

It appears that they had Machel Montano's "On the Avenue" on the radar when they wrote this one for Michel X. I listened to this song today and, to be honest, I was not impressed. I don't know what they were attempting with this one.

I like the writing style of Jason "Shaft" Bishop but I just don't feel that this song suits her (Michelle's) singing style. DJ Capshon of WACK Radio thinks that this song has potential - I don't! Yes he is a DJ and I am just a blogger giving his opinion about this song. However, I think I have a good feel for the music and I just don't see this song being successful. Sorry DJ Capshon, the Caribbean's finest, you simply got this one wrong!

Please don't misunderstand my take on this song. I just don't feel the vocals on this one and it does not translate into a Carnival set. To add to it all, Michelle X does not do anything to make me a believer. I like the feel of the music (although it is not right for Carnival) but I have my doubts about the vocal performance. By the way, how can one 'waste ah tabanca'? Somebody, anybody leave a comment!
