Face Time | Kerlene (Kerz) Joseph | Trinidad Carnival 2013

Kerlene (Kerlz) Joseph is a very brave person. This song named 'Face Time' comes on the hells of Ziggy Rankin's strong singing performance and wonderful lyrics on the very same riddim. That is trouble or you are simply asking for trouble. To complicate things she sings about "wettin' after wettin'" and if my memory serves me right there is a Riddim that will soon drop named 'Paradise Riddim'. On that riddim is a singer named Mr. Kerwin Dubois and he also sings about "wettin' after wettin'" - get my drift!?!

The lyrical content of this song is Carnival based and that should have served Kerlene well but Ziggy Rankin's song is the standard bearer for this Riddim - that is her problem. The lyrical style is also not strong even for a Carnival song - it sounds to familiar! OK, her vocal performance is good (shades of Patrice in her voice) and that augers well for future productions. Musically the production is very good; Val Musik and Precision come together to do justice to the musical production. My final words are simply these: "In the end Ziggy is on my mind"!
