This song has a nice vibe to it but I don't see it making any waves for Carnival 2013. It is not what is considered a typical Carnival song. This song, apart from the lyrics, is a song for outside the Carnival season. I know what the youth would say and maybe this will be the music that the youth will follow (future vibe) but this one does not have the traditional Soca vibe to it and feels more like a fusion vibe. I hope I am wrong because we want all our new and upcoming artists to succeed. As I said before, this one has a nice vibe to it but it does not have the Carnival vibe that I feel will mash up a fete.
Now you have heard the caption for music coming from Islandmix: "Islandmix.com, we play them first"! I hope that this is not the only place that this song gets airplay. Well at least it is a featured post on Trinizagada but I am looking forward to hear this one played on radio in Trinidad and Tobago. To date I have not heard this one on the stations that I listen to on a daily basis.
This musical style is not your traditional Soca rhythm. The young artists are experimenting and bringing a new vibe to the music scene. The artists who have been around for some time are changing but keeping the music close to the home base that most Soca lovers know and relate too. This new vibe will take some time to get accustomed to but will eventually find heavy rotation on the radio stations. Good luck to Sekon STA and keep up the good work... it will take time but your music will become mainstream!
