Ah Big Song | The C.E.O. CJ | T'dad Panorama 2013

Soca came from Calypso so Soca is Calypso right! OK, so how do you label a song that is sung is true Calypso style but stitched to a Soca rhythm... you call it a song for the pan! This musical rendition was done just for the pan and it is the latest release from Colin Jackman aka 'The C.E.O.' or you can simply call him "CJ"!

It is always good when an artiste stays on track and does not try to fuse other rhythms to create a 'riddim' that so many artists eventually latch on too. Now there is nothing wrong with that but when you listen to CJ's offering you damn well know that this one stands on its own and you will not hear any other lyrics with this music - that makes it special!

The music is the real deal... sugar Carnival style that you will not be able to resist when you hear it on the drag at the Queen's Park Savannah. I can't wait to hear this one on the steel pan. Is should be a good one. According to my good friend Gail - "Iz ah big Pan Song!" Now let's get into the meat of the production.

Lyrics:
"Is ah big song" - what do you think about the lyrics? Well here is my take on the lyrical content. First off I like the refrain.... Musicccc, musiccccc, musiccccc, we come back again, come back again! If you listen to the song you would hear overtones of some of the great ones ringing true in the lyrics. The song was written by "CJ" and kudos to him for a job well done.

Vocals:
Colin has been singing for quite some time now and knows the art of Calypso singing. After all his father is a master of the craft... Calypsonian and Minister in the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honorable Winston Peters aka Gypsy within the Calypso fraternity. I have to be honest here because I feel like "CJ" was a little behing the pace of the music. Having said that I still love the song. Carnival is a long way off and much can be done before 2013 come rumbling past Lewah!

Music/Production:
Right off the bat (I used to play cricket too) I love the music for that the vocals ride on this one. I said Calypso Vocal Style but this music production lives in the real of the Socaholic nation. This is interesting because if one tries to categorize Soca we have so many fusions. I like this one because it embraces the Soca/Calypso style instead of the Island Pop style. This music production was done by Kendell Alexander of 131 Studios - Kudos to you my brother and I do hope to hear more of your music!

Replay Worthiness/Lasting Appeal:
Damn I feel like Panorama is just around the corner when I hear this song played. I am sure we will be hearing this one regularly on the radio. If you love listening to the steelpan then this is "Ah Big Song" - one to look out for for Parnorama 2013.
