This post has been done to record the winner, first and second runners up to the Monarch of the St. Lucia Power Soca Competition. I really did not enjoy the performances. The songs were lacking and the performances, in general, were not good! I will remember the constant shouting by the artists who performed last night.

The competition started two hours late. The singers did not sing... there was so much shouting that it became a bore after listening for a while. It appears that they equate 'Power Soca' with shouting instead of vibrant and stimulating performances with sound lyrical content. I guess most of the singers do well in the recording studio but can't bring the same quality for live performances. 

The other problem was the poor stage lighting; there is a great need for improvement in this area.  The people responsible for the should realize that they need to show more details for those who watched the live feed via the Internet. Let me also add this... they need to get some quality show hosts!

I am lost for words... I am very disappointed and hope that they really rethink this competition for next year. In the end even the heavens could not take it anymore... it began to rain to add to the pain of a very disappointing show. The results took about 50 minutes after the show finished before it was announced (3:20 AM). In the end they palanced to the results... the music of JW & Blaze mashed up the place!
