I have featured a few songs for the upcoming Vincy carnival 2012 but I was not enamored by the music I heard to date. Today we feature a track sung by 'Skarpyon' and this is one that I think has the potential to be a hit for Vincy Carnival 2012. I like the track because the music is full bodied and the singer's voice is clear and the recording clean and sharp (and this was a YouTube bit rate listening experience; so I expect to hear a better quality version soon i.e. higher bit rate eventhough a higher bitrate does not necessarily mean the quality is better).
I really like the quality of the recording and the sharp and crisp sound that clean and not muddled in anywhere on the track. The song has wave yuh rag themes and 'shorty' that was featured in a few songs released earlier this year for the Trinidad Carnival. I find it curious that so many people criticize Trinidad music themes but celebrate the same themes when it is done on a territorial basis. "Jump and wave, take out yuh rag and misbehave" are themes that have been criticized as Trinidad music themes but that is OK. Having said that, I like the music even though the lyrics are a bit commonplace and heard in bit and pieces on other songs. I give this one a thumbs up as my first Vincy track that I like thus far. I will leave the judging of the lyrics to you the listening public.
