Chutney Mars Riddim (Soca Edition) | Various Artistes

Everyone likes to think of their homeland as a special place, and no place on earth can match it...right! In Trinidad, the land I was born and nurtured, one would hear people say, "I could never leave this place'! Well this is the land where, if you eat the cascadura, you have to return to regardless of where you choose to reside (overseas). So what is so special about Trinidad?

For me it is the cosmopolitan blend of people that gave birth to a rich music that is unmatched in the region. Everyone sings calypso and even Chutney music is part of the music scene in Suriname and Guyana. However, the music has crossed boundaries in the land where it all started...Trinidad. This is no idle boast and it is this cosmopolitan richness that has given birth to these fascinating blends of music.

This post not only praises the talented people of Trinidad and Tobago but more importantly places emphasis on the fact that our music is unique in the entire region. Singers from around the region now sing to rhythms created by our cosmopolitan society. Calypso, Soca, Chutney Soca, Rapso, Parang, Island Pop and the blends of these music genres. Today I am featuring a blend of Chutney 'riddims' over-laced with some very popular calypsos/soca songs. This mix was sourced from Jam2Vibes and presented here for your listening pleasure.

Please be advised that the music is presented here for your listening pleasure and for promotional purposes only ("Fair Use" Musical Content Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976). Lend me your ears... Enjoy!
