Machel Montano won both Soca Monarch titles in Trinidad and Tobago last night. He dug deep into his bad of 'tricks'(learnt from the great ones over the years) and came up big with double stage performances that wowed the judges and voting audience that entitled him to be dubbed Mr. Double "M".
After 30 years in the business of Calypso and Soca Double M is on his way to the Triple "M" sweep if he can win the Road March title. Many are happy with the results but I am disappointed that Kerwin Dubois did not Win the Groovy Soca Title.

Let me say this here... Kerwin sang his song and performed like a winner last night; however, I believed that Machel Montano brought the Power Soca element into the Groovy show and came out a winner. That is not good for future performances in the Groovy category.
The future of Soca on the International scene lies in the Groovy category and here we are muddling the vibe with a performance akin to the Power Soca category. I don't like this trend that has come to play with Machel winning the Groovy Title. Enough of my rantings... here are the results for the 2012 Power and Groovy Soca Titles:
