I can't believe this carnival has just one month to go and the music is being squeezed by these DJ's on the radio. For those who don't know the people (DJ's) at Wack radio are in a very unique position. The owner of the radio station is none other than Mr. Kenny Phillips owner of KMPMUSIC Studios while his son Kasey Phillips is part of the Precision Production team. So what does that mean for those radio jocks at that 'Culture Krazy' station?
Well the DJ's at Wack get to hear the music produced by these two entities before anyone else. But here is something interesting. Wack radio does not know or the DJ's are inept when it comes to promoting music and placing themselves as the #1 outlet for the new music. Wack is the only radio station in Trinidad that plays 100 percent total local content but guess what... they are still relatively unknown in Trinidad! Don't you think that something is seriously wrong here?

All of that power and they can't seem to place themselves as the premiere outlet for local content - what a shame! Yesterday it was Capshon with the new Benjai song featuring Machel Montano that was continued by KA this morning on the radio. They are bragging about being the first to play it etc etc. They talk so damn much over the songs that you can't hear the music or discern the lyrics. This has all gone to these guys heads simply because they have the microphone in their faces - if they learn to use it properly they will be successful. These guys just don't get it. That is why I love to listen to Damion Melville - no pretense and they just lost one of their best radio hostess in Ebony.
These radio Jocks (st***) are behaving like kids in the candy store; and if you listen to some of them it is easy to discern that they need training on radio etiquette and need to know their damn place and do what they are paid to do... play the music and save their voice overs for the 'snackette fetes' they play in...
I have recommended Wack to many people on many occasions; on imix so many people simply say that station is for the older heads... say what? What does that say about the jocks on the station? That is easy to understand... just take a listen to 'Small Island Massive, Tempo radio and Flagz online offerings.... ask yourself if it is a conspiracy that Wack is lagging behind the rest in Trinidad? It is not a conspiracy just the work of the candy store jocks that are responsible for their status today! Oh by the way, I learnt something very special this morning... Basket does hol' Water (that is one sweet Trini saying).
New (to be released) Benjai & Machel Songs 2012: Names of Tracks... Unknown!
Here is what I have to say about the new Benjai/Machel song that was played exclusively on Wack Radio 901 FM yesterday and today. I was shocked about the hype the song is getting by the people at Wack. My auditory nerves were not impressed by the sound of the music coming from the radio station. I said in the Wack shout box that the music I was listening too sounded flat!
Immediately I was 'jumped' with discussion that amounted to "what de hell you know about music"? You know the discussion ... you can't even play a note on any instrument but here you are criticizing the work done by someone who knows just about all that one needs to know about music. Well I have news for everyone... I am a consumer of music. I am like everyone else out there and it is the power that the consumer has that makes a song a hit or a miss - no DJ has that power!
OK, the vocals are sweet and I like the lyrics but the music is flat and needs to be retooled before being released. If they leave it the way it sounded on Wack radio it will not be remembered after the radio air play ends and will end up as an album filler track. If you think otherwise then leave a comment I will attach all comments to this post just keep it clean.
I understand that there will be a backlash because of my comments here - so be it! The song below was added on 01/22/2012 for 'all ah dem nasty boys'!
