Damn this calypso is not just sweet it is laced with 'cut arse' lyrics by one of my favorite Calypsonians. I have no doubt that with Kurt Allen and Karen Asche Trinidad and Tobago will beat all comers for years to come. Yes I am saying that we have a new Calypso dynasty in the making.
This Last Badjohn is a 'Bad Mudder Fracker' and I say that with all the respect in the World. This man is a genius with his lyrics and talk about rendition - Kurt is phenomenal. I feel so proud when I hear Kurt singing (isn't that something). Listen, all respects to Karen but when she won the monarch title last year I wrote... "Talk about upset!" Look she deserved to win but I am on the side of the Last Badjohn.
This song is designed to teach other Calypsonians how to sing and present a real true to the culture Calypso. This is a classic! The lyrics are strong and factual!
The Vocal performance is strong and this has always been one of Kurt's greatest assets; he has the ability to tell the story with feelings that will make many a politician cringe.
Replay Worthiness and lasting appeal goes without saying... this one is already a classic for me. If you think the anti PP people won't have fun with this one then you are living on another planet. This could become the PNM anthem - I say that with a mischievous smile on my face.
Originality... You tell me if there is anyone else like Kurt. Well Karen is just as wicked but this year should become a classic year for the master lyricist. I can't wait for the competition to start... are you ready for this classic?
