Dubstep and Soca... What, Whaaatt?! That is new music from Kes The Band and the title of the track is 'Come Play Ah Mas'. Most of you reading this post and listening to the music might be asking, "What de hell is Dubstep?" Good question and to be honest I did not have a clue until I heard this song. Well as it turns out Dubstep, as revealed in Wikipedia, is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, UK. Link to the article to ready about it here: Dubstep.

Now the fusion of Soca with Dubstep, in this case, was done by the creative minds at Madmen Productions. The rhythm is called the DubPop Riddim. The song has been described as a "scandal inducing mesh of club stomping, flag waving, sure to keep your waistline gyrating sounds, is another lively step forward in MadMen's mission and promise to take our beautiful culture straight to the World stage". I love the creativity of MadMen and the bold and in your face attitude of Kes The Band when it comes to experimentation and fusion of different music genres. I am not going to get caught up in the 'this is not Soca ole talk'. Change has come just as it did when Lord Shorty brought us Soca and the Calypso heads protested that 'it is not calypso'...look where Soca is today!

This song has grown on me... at first I was not into the track but then it hit me. It is so musically mischievous. Kes, the singer, sounds like a kid having fun... that augers well for the music. MadMen, of course, did their thing... I love it and you will too.
