Scrappy has a new song and he wants you to get your groove on with some serious 'Slow Wine". This Soca Singer was born in Montserrat of a Trinidadian father and Montserratan mother. As a very young age he was nurtured by both his mother and father who both provided a diverse selection of music during his youthful years. Reggae was a staple provided by his mother with American pop and Trinidad's calypso music played by his dad. Music was always a part of his life.
This young man is a true son of the Caribbean. A born Montserratan with a Trinidadian father who eventually migrated to Antigua where he matured as a singer. The right mix was found when Scrappy migrated to the UK where he studied music and realized his dreams of becoming a recording artiste. He had his first release in 2005 and it was titled "Always Home".
Today he is singing the music he loves and has coined a new phrase that he hopes will bring the sound of Soca out of the theme of Soul of Calypso or Soul Calypso to the new and more meaning (in his view) Soul Of Caribbean Artform (S.O.C.A). Please note the periods after each letter that differentiates SOCA from S.O.C.A. This may or may not muddle the conversation about a music that originally started in Trinidad but has now been adopted by the entire Caribbean Community.
Scrappy wants you to get into a "Slow Wine" and in the final analysis you will be the one to determine whether or not this Montserratan will be a success in the Caribbean Soca arena.
