Tujhse Naraaz | Ravi Sookkoo feat. Nishad & Kavita

"Tujhse Naraaz" is the newly released track from Ravi Sookoo. He enlisted some help from Nishad Sultan of T&T Gayatones and Kavita Sookhoo of N2 (Toronto Chutney Band). This one will surely be one of  the stand-outs for the 2012 season. This is a really good cover version of the song. As Damion Melville from Wack Radio would say, and it is worth repeating here... "This is ah 'wicked' one -  Just Right"!

The song itself (Tujhse naaraz nahi zindagi) is a classic Indian song written by Gulzar with the original melody done by R D Burman and sung by Lata Mangeshkar. This cover by Ravi Sookoo is the Caribbean version of a really beautiful and classic song.  It is a song about life.

Here are the lyrics of the song 'Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi' from the movie 'Masoom' (1983). The English translation follows the Indian lyrics and was sourced here: Hindi Lyrics. The song is embedded here for your listening pleasure; and of course, you can follow the lyrics and even sing along too!

Tujhse Naraaz - Ravi Sookhoo Feat. Neeshad Sultan & Kavita Sookoo

Here is the translation:
tujhse naaraz nahin zindagi hairan hoon main
I am not upset with you, life.. I am astonished

tere masoom sawaalon se pareshan hoon main
I am distressed by your innocent questions

jeene ke liye sochaa hi nahin dard sambhaalne honge
I did not think that in order to live, I would have to take care of woes...

muskuraye to muskurane ke karz utaarne honge
To smile, I would have to take on the debt of smiling

muskuraye jo kabhi to lagta hai jaise hothon pe karz rakha hai
If I were to smile, it seems that I would have to incure this debt upon my lips

aankh agar bhar aai hain boondein baras jayengi
Today, if my eyes fill with tears, then they will fall...

kal kya pata kis ke liye aankhen taras jayengi
Who knows whom these eyes will wait for tomorrow...

jaane kahan gum hua kahan kho gaya
Who knows where I lost...

ek aansoo chhupa ke rakha tha
The one tear I had kept hidden...

zindagi tere gham ne hume rishte naye samjhaye
Life, your sorrows have taught us new bonds...

dhoop mein mile jo bhi mile pyar ke thande saaye...
Whom ever you shall meet in the sunlight, you will feel the cool shade of love...

The Evolution of the Chutney Soca Music starts with this breaking news from Trinidad:
News coming out of Trinidad revealed that the Chutney Soca Competition is moving to "The Big Yard - The Queen's Park Savannah!" Well it was inevitable as the Chutney singers continue to improve causing the regular Calypsonians and Soca stars begin to realize that the Chutney Music Market has a great upside to it! They have and will continue to become involved in the Chutney Soca Competition. Simply put, the East Indian community will continue to support this event. It has outgrown the base from which it started and is poised to make it's debut as a National event next Carnival.

The promoter of the show hopes to showcase the popularity and sweetness of  Chutney Soca music to the untapped East-West Corridor; he is betting that the supporters from Central and Southern Trinidad will continue to follow the beat of the Chutney stars into the Savannah in Port- of - Spain. The Savannah, or as we say back home, "The Big Yard" is the place to be for Carnival - Welcome to the Chutney Stars!

Until that time, we can enjoy this really sweet track from Ravi Sookhoo featuring Nishad Sultan and Kavita Sookoo.  The song was produced by Ravi Sookhoo at N2 Studios in Toronto, Canada. I have a good feeling about this song - it is really nice to listen to and the music is fantastic.
