Yuh look fuh dat | Yuh is ah Trini

Triniglish|Trinididioms Spoken and Explained #32
Yuh is ah Trini|Yuh look fuh dat!

It damn good fuh yuh, yuh look fuh dat! Now don't tell me that you haven't heard these words before? Maybe it was not said to you but as a child you must have heard it or even said it to one of your friends.  This is a good ole Trinidad saying that simply means that you deserve what you got.

I am sure you have heard this one, "Friend will carry yuh but doh bring yuh back". It is typically a situation like this one when a child did not listen to his or her parent and ran off with friends to have a good time and something bad happened during the "Lime". Maybe you got in a fight and was beaten or someone took something important from you. In such a situation the person responsible for you (parent or guardian) will ensure that you hear those words, "Yuh look fuh dat".

In Trinidad today there is so much crime but the consequences for the acts of senseless crimes committed goes by without punishment. It is as if they have lost the sense of the payment for the deed because nothing happens. The crimes go unpunished and "yuh look fuh dat" is meaningless. It is about time that "Yuh look for Dat" got back some importance. It is about time that we take back our country from these nefarious bastards.

This was meant to be a fun post but turned out otherwise. The truth is we need to understand that we all need to take responsibility for our actions. The consequence should be punishment for the crime all the time and in so doing we call all say, "Yuh damn well look fuh dat!"
